We are Visual Meta – an innovative, Berlin-based internet company, which has grown to over 200 employees since its foundation in 2009, and we’re still growing at a relentless pace. We run shopping sites in 19 countries across three continents (e.g. LadenZeile.de, Umsolugar.com, Shoppala.com, and ShopAlike.in). We are looking for “Full Stack Java Developer (m/f)” on a full-time basis to build the next generation of our checkout, which will support our leading shopping comparison platforms worldwide.
We deal a lot with modern web technologies, large databases, millions of images, data mining and analysis, search technologies and machine learning. You will be a part of the engineering department that serves 19 different online platforms worldwide. We code stuff that matters and reaches millions of people. We believe in lean and agile software engineering. Our technology stack is plain Java, MySQL, Hadoop, Spring, Eclipse and Tomcat.
Your profile:
· University degree in engineering, computer science or similar
· At least 2 years Java engineering experience in a technology environment
· Good skills with database systems such as MySQL as well as in HTML/CSS/JavaScript
· Good knowledge of either Hadoop/ HBase or in Android/iOS is a plus
· Eager to learn new technologies and extend knowledge
· Highly motivated and love writing software
· Analytical mindset with a kick-ass “getting things done” mentality
· Fluent in spoken and written English
Your responsibilities:
· Improving our existing data model to match checkout requirements
· Establishing inhouse tools to analyze and maintain data needed for checkout
· Integrating a new checkout functionality into our frontend
