Database Administrator (m/f)
You join our German or Dutch based ICT team as Fulltime employee either in Berlin or Wageningen. You work in an international und project oriented environment and are responsible for the maintenance and administration of our Informix and MySQL databases.
Our business is the handling of big amounts of various meteorological data. Fast ingesting, processing and delivery of such data is a key success factor we want you to contribute to with your Data Technology Know How.
You will play a major role in designing, optimizing and maintaining our diverse data eco system and develop a long term data strategy, increase availability and reduce redundancy.
Your profile:
- Degree in Computer Sciences
- At least 3 years of experience with Informix or another Enterprise RDBMS as well as MySQL in an High Availability environment
- Knowhow in fast processing of big amounts of structured data, Spatial/GIS data, Data Archiving
- Knowledge of Data Architecture and Modelling is a plus
- Experience with Oracle Enterprise (RAC) is also a plus
- Familiar with Linux system administration concepts
- Good command of written and spoken English
Your responsibilities:
- Installation, Monitoring, Maintenance and Optimization of existing and new Informix and MySQL clusters
- Identify Hardware and Software bottlenecks and find solutions for such issues
- Optimizing database queries
- Determine long term data strategy and architecture
- Consolidation of existing database technology stack
- Cooperation with SysAdmins and Developers on integrated concepts and implementations
